How do you overcome analysis paralysis and take action when fear keeps you waiting for certainty?

Sep 08, 2025

The level of certainty most of us demand is only found in death, for the nature of life is uncertainty and flow.

A client recently asked me something that made me pause.

She said,

“I’ve been sitting with a decision for weeks…
but the more I think, the more confused I get.
I feel stuck. What am I missing?”

What confuses us isn’t the decision itself, it’s overthinking.

And behind overthinking… is almost always fear.

She asked me what causes so much fear.

A lot of things do. But one of them is subtle:

We’ve trained ourselves to believe that we cannot act without certainty.

So we delay.

We wait for perfection. We wait until we’ve played out every possible outcome in our head. We wait until we’ve solved for every reaction, every emotion, every regret.

And that’s exactly what traps us.

The Trap of Knowing Everything

Should I leave this job?

Should I end this relationship?

Should I move to another city?

We try to calculate every scenario.

But the more we try to know the unknown, the more we discover how little we can control or know.

Fear sets in and even small things seem paralyzing.

“Should I send the message?”

“Should I say no?”

You should think before you act, but think too much, and you never act.

We delay until we’re 100% sure—about outcomes, consequences, other people’s reactions.

But perfection never arrives.

Because 100% clarity is 100% inaction, stagnation, and perhaps death.

Take a dog or a cat for example. Can you predict with a 100% guarantee what it's going to do next?

No you can't, unless the poor thing stops moving entirely — unless it is dead.

A living thing, can never be controlled or predicted with 100% certainty.

The level of certainty most of us demand is only found in death, for the nature of life is flow, which by nature is unpredictable.

The solution is to let go.

The solution is to begin, instantly.

Begin Before You Decide

You don’t need full clarity to move.

You just need enough clarity to begin, and such clarity comes from a simple insight that says — You must ACT.

Flow begins when you act before the mind has finished its list.

Insight comes after action, not before.

You don’t become clear and then start.

You start—and that’s how you become clear.

Insight for This Week

Analysis paralysis is worse than stumble and fall. Don't wait for perfection in understanding, begin and learn abut your path as you walk it.

Because at least when you fail, you learn. When you freeze, you die.

Everything you've ever wanted, is on the other side of letting go of the things you don't want.

So apply for that job, take that course, join that class, let go of the people who don't align with your core values.

Start.

Stumble.

Flow.

For when you let go, life will hold your hand.
